The week of April 16, 2018 is the Week of the Young Child. To celebrate, Save the Children Action Network volunteers and Student Ambassadors from around the country are organizing a week of action in support of increased funding for Head Start and Early Head Start.
Organizing around the theme “Head Start Builds Bright Futures,” we will demonstrate broad public support for expanding this effective program. This page includes a variety of resources to help you plan your week of action activities. We will continue to post resources in the coming weeks.
Week of Action Goals
Throughout the week of action we seek to do the following:
1. Educate the public about the importance of early childhood education.
2. Inspire action! Activists will collect postcards, email and call their members of Congress, submit letters to the editor and/or participate in in-district visits.
3. Demonstrate the broad support for Head Start and Early Head Start to members of Congress, the media and the public.
4. Build SCAN student clubs and community action teams, increasing the skills and abilities of our leaders and Student Ambassadors and recruiting new people to join our local groups.
