Join SCAN’s student team and national volunteers to advocate for early childhood education and Head Start. We’ll be calling our legislators, textbanking, and doing relational organizing! There will be lots of actions to take and trainings to make sure you’re ready to start advocating.

Virginians are getting ready to vote on a historic election and to hold their elected officials to account once the General Assembly starts. Save the Children Action Network and Virginia Promise Partnership will host a workshop series where volunteers will be able to sharpen their advocacy skills and make sure lawmakers know we GOTTA HAVE CHILDCARE.

During these virtual calls, we will give state and federal policy updates, highlight the previous month’s work, plan ahead for upcoming opportunities, and host training opportunities.

Appropriations are underway in Congress and your representatives need to hear that you want them to fund programs for kids! Join us to learn how to write an effective Letter to the Editor that will catch your representative’s eye and get published in your local paper.

Help us get petition signatures in support of WIC and Food for Peace – critical programs for combatting childhood hunger here and around the world. We’ll start with a quick textbanking training and then dive right in to texting other SCAN advocates to take action!
